Whidbey Island is one of 9 islands in Island County, forming the northern boundary of the Puget Sound between the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges. It is south of the San Juan Islands and just north of Seattle, and is served by Scenic Route 525/20 and excellent ferry connections.

Whidbey Island is named after Joseph Whidbey, who discovered it in 1792. Whidbey Island partly lies in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains to the west, and has a variety of climate zones. Whidbey Island offers several popular destinations such as Fort Casey and Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve.
